  7.         THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT...Thou shalt not steal.

  9.         Key Thoughts:      Productivity
  10.                            Active consideration of others

  12.         The Problem:       Immaturity expressed in laziness, greed and
  13.                            selfishness.

  16.             Money is not only for buying what is needed, but for giving to
  17.         those in greater need.   This requires a heart  for  others,  a
  18.         willingness to sacrifice self interest.   A giving heart is truly
  19.         a mark of correct life priorities.  2 Cor. 8:1-5.
  20.  
  21.         To  have  money  one  must have  earning  capacity.   This  means
  22.         training  and  discipline.   The  material  expectations  of  any
  23.         individual  must  be realistically proportional  to  his  earning
  24.         capacity.  Proverbs 6:1-8.
  25.  
  26.         The Characteristics Of A Thief.

  28.         Undiscipline...Laziness.
  29.         He  has  no control over his hands to work,  or over his mind  to
  30.         concentrate,  Proverbs  10:5.   Also habitual choice against  any
  31.         work effort freezes him into indolence, Proverbs 21:25.

  33.         Indifference Toward People...Materialism.
  34.         If  he never has enough for himself then others have no  approach
  35.         to him,  Proverbs 21:13.   Friendless,  he will turn to  material
  36.         things   for  satisfaction,   Proverbs  21:26.    He  will   feel
  37.         underpriviliged, inferior and bitter.

  39.         Isolationism...Deceitfulness.
  40.         Others  are  of  no consequence to him.   "They have  enough"  he
  41.         reasons.  They become the "enemy".  It becomes his right to take,
  42.         anything seems legitimate.   The most important thing is to  have
  43.         what  he  wants.   It  is  of no relevance to him  who  might  be
  44.         deprived by his action.

  46.         Social Irresponsibility...
  47.         Such people can never be anything but a burden,  materially and a
  48.         worry, emotionally.  Proverbs 24:30-34; 10:26.

  50.         What Does God Require Of Such A Man?
  51.  
  52.         1. He must count his life as loss to know Christ. Phil. 3:8.
  53.         2. He  must seek God for the Holy Spirit in order to gain  a  new
  54.            attitude towards his fellow man.
  55.         3. He   must,   by  faith  in  God,   face  up  to  his  life  of
  56.            responsibilities,  including  the material needs of those  who
  57.            are  dependent  upon  him.   He must ask God  for  open  eyes,
  58.            Proverbs 4:25-27 (cp.27:20),  and accept the discipline of God
  59.            that will bring him into a revelation of Jesus Christ.  Isaiah
  60.            30:20-21; 52:15-53:1.  Only Christ can win his heart away from
  61.            himself.  Eph. 4:28.

  63.         The Blessing.

  65.             Reading  Luke 6:38,  we find that gratitude is born in  other
  66.         men  as  a  result of open-handedness in  giving.   This  is  not
  67.         mercenary  but recognition that the giver has become involved  at
  68.         heart level.
